Scott Kelly will not be making any more space missions.

According to the Associated Press, NASA announced on Friday that the astronaut has decided to retire, just under two weeks since he returned to earth from his year in space.

Kelly, 52, will officially retire on April 1, the AP reports.

At the beginning of the month Kelly landed back on earth after spending 340 days in space aboard the International Space Station. Kelly's total time in space amounts to 520 days spread over four missions – the most time any American has spent in orbit.

Although he hasn't revealed any specific plans for the free time he'll have after retiring, Kelly reportedly said in a press conference last week, "Adjusting in space is easier than adjusting to Earth for me. I'll never be done with space. I will always be involved."
