Like a great country song, Nashville's season finale looks to be full of emotion, memorable lines and hard knocks.

Although the clip from the season 2 finale doesn't feature any car crashes like last year, or an appearance by First Lady Michelle Obama like last week, it does showcase a lot of personal and musical drama – as well as an appearance from PEOPLE Editorial Director Jess Cagle.

"How's that album launch going?" Deacon Claybourne (Charles Esten) asks country music queen Rayna James (Connie Britton) in an exclusive preview from the episode.

"It's a huge week, and I have bet the house on this album, literally, and that idiot at Edgehill is trying to completely screw me over," says Rayna. "And I have the opportunity to screw him over ... but then that would mean I'm selling out."

"That business we grew up in? That's gone," replies Deacon. "You do what you have to do to make it fly, and you kick his ass. You won't find any judgment here."

"Sure as hell wish it was the way it used to be," says Rayna, before the clip ends.
