Nick Carter's got a new single and music video, and PEOPLE has an exclusive first look.
As unabashedly catchy as anything the Backstreet Boys ever released, Carter's new track "19 in 99" is in the same reminiscent vein as Bowling for Soup's hit "1985," looking back on (and pokes fun at) his guy group's glory days, paying homage to the year before he'd been on earth for two decades.
In addition to numerous nods to the '90s (including a Tupac-blaring boombox and a pair of Reeboks), the track features lyrics like: "Countdown back to Millennium, bleach blond, party on / Tank tops, tube socks and Filas / Skateboards, SEGAs."

Bandmate AJ McLean even makes cameo appearance as a pizza man, and Carter gives the ultimate nod to the Backstreet Boys at the 2:45 mark, reliving their "I Want It That Way" clip, complete with the dramatic hand motions, all-white wardrobe and wind machine.
"'I Want It That Way' was really big during the time song the talks about and we wanted to do something funny," Carter tells PEOPLE of the homage. "I was a little worried that people might not necessarily recognize the reference, but it looks like everyone is responding really well to it."
Carter, 36, heads out on tour later this month in support of All American, his third solo album, which was released in November. The dates kick off Feb. 24 in Sacramento, California, and wrap up in March, shortly before the singer welcomes his first child.
