Nicki Minaj took home her fifth straight BET Award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist on Sunday night, but it’s her impassioned acceptance speech that really stole the show.

"You guys, this is always very, very emotional for me because this is my fifth year winning this award and I don't take it for granted, I really don't," she said. "I thank God that I've been placed in a position to do something and represent women in a culture that is so male-driven."

The 31-year-old MC then turned on the sass, flipping her hair as she levied what many are calling a diss at her fellow nominee Iggy Azalea – though she insisted she was throwing "no shade."

"My point is, what I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is, that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it," she told the crowd.

The "Pills n Potions" rapper also surprised the audience with a confession, admitting she found herself close to death but didn't want to call an ambulance out of fear she’d wind up on gossip website TMZ.

"And it made me realize, I don't care what anybody got to say. I'm going to do me," she said. "And I hope and pray that BET continues to honor authenticity."
