Police in Dayton, Ohio, arrested a 68-year-old man for allegedly shooting his brother, a 70-year-old pastor, hours after he delivered his weekly sermon, PEOPLE confirms.

Investigators believe the Rev. William Schooler was murdered Sunday by his younger brother, Daniel Schooler.

Initial media reports suggested Schooler was killed while standing at the pulpit during a service inside St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church in Dayton. But police now tell PEOPLE Schooler was actually killed inside the church's business offices.

The shooting occurred just before 12:30 p.m., and followed soon after Schooler conducted Sunday mass, according to police.

Detectives maintain Sunday's attack was not random, but police do not know what the alleged killer's motivation might have been. No one else was injured in the shooting, police say.

Daniel Schooler was detained by police at the scene, and is being held on an unspecified amount of bail.

William Schooler, a former teacher, principal and school board member, had been serving as president of the Dayton Baptist Ministers Union, WHIO reports.

It was unclear Monday if Daniel Schooler has retained legal counsel. His initial court date is Tuesday.
