Olivia Munn sticks to her promises. After using a text from her mother to shut down engagement rumors, the star visited Live with Kelly and Michael to discuss the hilarious exchange – and mama Munn's affection for Kelly Ripa.
The Ride Along 2 star says she began being bombarded with unnecessary congratulatory messages after a "random magazine" published a story that she and boyfriend Aaron Rodgers got engaged.
"I had no idea that it got as far as it went until I got random emails from aunts and uncles that I haven't spoken to in so long like, 'Can we come to the wedding,' " Munn told Ripa and Michael Strahan.
She continued, "[People] were texting me like, 'Congrats, is it true? Is it true?' I was like 'Did Ride Along get nominated for an Oscar?' "
The 'Imperfection' Olivia Munn Prefers Covering Up
After Munn's own mother texted her to confirm there'd be wedding bells, the actress made an inspired move – she shut down the rumors by sharing a screengrab of the conversation.
"I normally wouldn't answer yes or no, but I thought... I should just say no so I don't have to get asked all the time," Munn explained.
The star then proceeded to read the exchange to Live's audience, complete with an impression of her Asian mother.
The highlight? Munn's mom brought up the Live appearance and asked her to tell Ripa she loves her.
"She so delicate, work out a lot I think," Munn's mom said of Ripa.
The host was flattered – and told Munn she'd hang with her mother anytime.
So when can fans expect Rodgers and Munn to walk down the aisle? Munn quickly changed the subject when Jenny McCarthy inquired on her SiriusXM show Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy.
"My girlfriend is getting married in July," she quipped. Wonder if Munn was the eighth – or ninth – person to find out?
