There's a new housewife in Hotlanta – and one Southern belle is missing from the lineup.

Porsha Williams will only have a "recurring role" in the new season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Bravo announced Wednesday.

Williams infamously fought with frenemy Kenya Moore during the spring taping of the reunion special, and their brawl landed her in jail on a battery charge.

Now, the network says, the ex-wife of football player Kordell Stewart is "enjoying a fresh chapter in her life" as a single woman and entertainment correspondent on Dish Nation.

But in a statement to PEOPLE, Williams said she was shocked by the casting shakeup.

"After a long season of filming, and giving my all, I was blindsided by the announcement from the network that I was demoted from 'Housewife Status,' but would remain on the show in a 'Friend' capacity," she said. "Unfortunately, I can only be PORSHA, and portraying anything else, would not be genuine nor honest."

Meanwhile, TV personality Claudia Jordan is joining the cast. A recent transplant from Los Angeles, Jordan is a radio co-host on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show – and already friends with Moore.

Moore, Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Burruss, NeNe Leakes and Phaedra Parks will all return as series stars.

Real Housewives returns Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
