After a neck-and-neck finish in last week's premiere between speculation about new cast member Julianne (Jules) Wainstein's weight and speculation about why Dorinda Medley continues to defend her controversial boyfriend, John – the latter has won out, clearly, following an episode-ending battle Wednesday night that saw Medley get very loud but, more frightening, no less articulate for her yelling.
"I choose to be with him. I married a person, I've buried a person," Medley said to the other women while they were gathered (of course) for a lingerie party she was throwing.
Missing from the group were Sonja Morgan and LuAnn de Lesseps; and, except for Wainstein, everyone in attendance was team anti-John.
Or, as Bethenny Frankel (the group's leader) put it, they were more anti all-of-the-many-excuses-Medley-kept-making for John's annoying/inappropriate/bizarre behavior.
"You feel the need to be selling John to us," Frankel said. (Which Medley denied as "bulls---.")
"Stop your bulls--- pretending" Frankel told Medley, of John, while simultaneously also acknowledging that she respected Medley's choice of whichever romantic partner she wants. (Because Frankel is cool like that, even bending backwards to hold seemingly conflicting positions. It's part of her sorcery.)
Frankel told Medley she felt it was inappropriate that John pitched her business ideas one on one, as though he waited for Medley to leave them alone. And she said that John parties too much, and implied that he enabled Medley's too-much-partying.
Medley was having none of it, with her loud and articulate words.
"Guess what Bethenny Frankel, You're not the word according to God," she said.
And then she said, about the partying, "Oh my God we had a lot of fun, kill me for it!"
And then Wainstein said, about the party they were all ignoring with their fight, "Let's try on bras! We never go to do that."
And Carole Radziwill at some point in the night wondered to the camera, preparing for chapter two of this season, "I'm not skinny-shaming ... but there might be something else going on with Jules."
Next week: John shows up!
