Private Benjamin, the military-inspired 1980 comedy that has become a film classic for Goldie Hawn fans, is getting a big-screen update.

Rebel Wilson is set to star in the remake, which will see the title character re-envisioned as a redneck who escapes a bad life situation by joining the Marines, Variety reports.

Hawn was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in the original title film (which she also executive produced), a hilarious fish-out-of-water story of a bereaved and pampered woman who gets tricked into joining the U.S. Army by a recruiter after her new husband passes away on their wedding night.

Wilson, 28, who starred in Pitch Perfect and is currently seen in ABC's Super Fun Night, will be joined in the remake's military endeavors by a wealthy "city girl" friend who's also looking to change her life, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Producer Mark Gordon is helming the film for New Line, The Wrap reports, and the project is seeking a director. Wilson, from Sydney, Australia, is also set to begin filming on Pitch Perfect 2.
