But with the launch of her quirky comedy web series End Times Girls Club, Rose Kennedy Schlossberg is showing the world an entirely new face of the famous political dynasty.
In the series of brief videos, Schlossberg, 27, and her friend Mara Nelson-Greenberg star as "Bee" and "Lara," a duo offering creative survival techniques including "a fun new way to start a fire after the apocalypse, when we live in a world of smoldering junk metal and hopefully a few 9V batteries," and "a stunning makeover using only apocalypse trash!" In the latter video, Schlossberg delivers a deadpan demonstration of how to make post-disaster mascara by mixing "ashes and some plain old auto grease."
The inspiration for the series – from Above Average productions, the digital arm of Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video – was born during her NYU student years, according to Mashable.
"It came up as a response to seeing the way that New York responded to Hurricane Sandy, and how people were grossly underprepared – specifically, girls in damsel in distress mode," Schlossberg told the website. "I thought it would be interesting to create this world where girls have to be survivalists without compromising their cute factor."
Schlossberg – the sister of Jack Kennedy Schlossberg, now living in Japan, and Tatiana Schlossberg, who writes for the New York Times – has kept a low profile since graduating from Harvard. While she looks remarkably like her famously chic grandmother, she is decidedly herself in a messy ponytail, T-shirts and jeans in the web series.
"We are big comedy fans, and I think Broadway Video has the best record in the comedy world for making stuff,” Schlossberg tells Mashable of her new gig. "It's an environment that enables creators, so it’s been a great fit."
