"The World Cube – Solving a Rubik's Cube Around the World"

08/15/2014 AT 10:30 AM EDT

It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes the entire globe to help solve '80s favorite, the Rubik's Cube.

In May 2014, Nuseir Yassin graduated from Harvard and decided to travel the world for two months. During his time abroad, conflict broke out in Yassin's native country of Israel. The tumultuous times at home inspired the college grad to find a way to show the people of Earth their similarities, instead of focusing on their differences.

He did this by taking a Rubik's cube to 11 countries and having people he met make one strategic move. In the video, citizens of England, Thailand, Cambodia and other nations are all shown puzzling over the toy.

Eighty-four international strangers later, the cube is complete – a simple reminder that working together can solve some of the world's most common problems.
