Family and police on Monday asked the public for help in finding Sarah P. Goode, a 21-year-old Long Island mother missing since Saturday under what detectives are calling "suspicious" circumstances.
"We are desperate to find her," Goode's sister, Elizabeth DeMuria, told Newsday
. "We love you … We just want you to come home safely."
"It's sad and it's scary. You hope she walks home," a friend of Goode's added.
The 5'3", 100-lb. Medford woman, who has a 4-year-old daughter, was last seen around 1 a.m. Saturday at a friend's house in Shirley, New York, police said. Her family reported her missing at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Soon after, Goode's 1999 BMW 328i was found next to a wooded area in Medford, at least a mile from where she lives.
"We're looking at a million different things," Sgt. Michael Fitzharris told Newsday
. "Her car is found not near her house, late at night, unoccupied, parked next to a wooded area. This was very contrary to her normal behavior. She's very close to her family, which is large, and she has a 4-year-old daughter."
Police have been searching the woods, and friends and family have been looking for Goode all over Medford. Anyone with information is being asked to call Suffolk County police at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
