Former Republican presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, has sent her condolences to the Cathy family – founders of the Chick-fil-a restaurant chain – after Jeannette Cathy died Wednesday. Cathy was 92.

Palin took to Facebook to send the family her blessing, writing, "prayers for the Cathy family following the passing of Jeannette Cathy, the beautiful, strong matriarch behind Chick-fil-a. What a role model – espousing the values of faith, family and food! Love this family and what they do for America."

According to officials in a release, family surrounded Cathy when she died earlier this week at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. Cathy married her husband and founder of Chick-fil-a, Truett Cathy, in 1948. Her husband, who credits Cathy for strengthening his Christian faith, died in 2014.

The couple's oldest son, Dan T. Cathy, is the current president and CEO of the company. He describes his mother as the "spiritual nucleus and encourager" of the family.

Chick-fil-a is known for its traditional values, some of which are in line with Palin's own views. The former Alaska governor is the author of Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas, published by HarperCollins in 2013 and is set to publish another book through Regnery Publishing in November. The book is titled Sweet Freedom: A Devotional" and will apply "biblical principles to modern issues."
