The Today show host took on an "internship" on the show as a "firewatcher" as part of the NBC show's "Up for the Job" series.
When first meeting with Guthrie, comedian Amy Schumer jokingly scolded her for being late – "I heard you were getting a massage," she said.
"I'm just really into you," Guthrie said after Schumer asked why she wanted to intern on the show.
"Okay, that's a great start. So far you're doing amazing," Schumer replied.
Guthrie gushed about the possibility of hanging out with Schumer and Jennifer Lawrence. But Schumer had other plans for her new intern.
"I would love that," she said. "But we actually do need you to work today."
And work Guthrie did.
The anchor was tasked with guarding the gear for the show's crew out on the street.
"Another rule of firewatching: Don't reveal too much to strangers," Guthrie said before telling a curious passerby that the crew was shooting a commercial for mayonnaise.
"Well, usually our interns stand around and they make uncomfortable eye contact with each other," she said.
It seems the Today show host found favor with Schumer, as the comedian called her "such a good intern."
