Sharon Osbourne is taking a one-month break from The Talk as she recovers from exhaustion.

In an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, her rep said that the co-host collapsed upon returning home to Los Angeles last Friday night after a busy trip to New York and Toronto.

The 62-year-old "collapsed from mental and physical fatigue," her rep said.

Osbourne's doctors report that she is suffering from "extreme exhaustion" and believe that she returned to work too soon after being hospitalized earlier this year for pneumonia.

Her daughter Kelly Osbourne sat in for the music manager-turned-talk show host in March, explaining that her mother had come down with pneumonia after having hernia surgery.

"Sharon has been advised and has agreed to take a month hiatus to recover fully from these recent events," her rep said. "Sharon would like to thank everyone at The Talk for granting her this time off and to all friends, family and others for their incredible support."

The wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne battled colorectal cancer in 2002 and had a double mastectomy three years ago after discovering she carried the gene that predisposed her to breast cancer.
