A Vancouver, Washington, man was involved in a police standoff Sunday that featured an interlude in which the man strapped on a banjo and played a few notes for police before being subdued, Oregon Fox affiliate KPTV reports.

Initial reports of a naked man walking around the neighborhood with a knife summoned police to Andrew Helmsworth's home. He refused to surrender, and – wearing pants, but not a shirt – he first dragged what appeared to be a sitar from the front door of his home before re-emerging with a banjo. Helmsworth played the instrument briefly before attempting to go back into his house, at which point police shot him with a non-lethal round and took him into custody, according to witnesses.

Police say their investigation later revealed that Helmsworth had assaulted a family member.
