Well, now you can send them this link and gloat.
Queen Jewels, LLC, a Florida-based shipwreck salvage operation, said it has recovered 60 gold artifacts from the 1715 Treasure Fleet, a haul valued at over $1 million.
The group says the most valuable piece is a single coin minted for King Phillip V of Spain, now nicknamed the "Tricentennial Royal." Another fun item: 40 feet of gold chain believed to have functioned as a tax-free alternative to gold coins, called a "money chain." (No one ever accused 18th-century royalty of subtlety.)
And amazingly, the artifacts were discovered off the coast of Fort Pierce, Florida, in waters merely 15 feet deep. You could have found them while practicing your deep dives! Excuse us – we're going to go dust off that Indiana Jones hat and keep the dream alive.
