Swift, 24, painted New York City pink in a chic, blush-colored coat while out and about with BFF Sarah Hyland on Wednesday night. But Hyland, 23, went for a decidedly younger look, rocking a black leather jacket and pants.
Together to attend off-Broadway play Under My Skin at The Little Shubert Theatre, the gal pals realized they looked more like a mother-daughter duo with their contrasting fashions. Naturally, they posted photographic evidence to Instagram.
"We decided we were dressed like a [straight]-laced mom and her rebellious teen daughter. #YouDon'tUnderstandMeMom!!! #StormsOut #ComeBackHere,YoungLady!" Swift captioned the Instagram.
In the shot, Swift stands tall and stone-faced, while Hyland rolls her eyes and keeps her hand on her hip. The Modern Family star followed up with another playful picture, this time of Swift wagging her finger at her very annoyed "daughter."
"When your mom gives you "the finger"… #donttellmewhattodo," she wrote.
Hyland needn't worry: If anyone understands angsty teenage emotions, it's "Teardrops on My Guitar" songwriter Swift.
