Luke Blanock, 18, tied the knot with his high school sweetheart, Natalie Britvich, on Feb. 19 in a 200-person ceremony put on by the people of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, ABC News reports.
"One of my favorite moments of the evening was Natalie and Luke's first dance," wedding planner, Ashley Cyprowski, tells PEOPLE. "Just seeing the way the two of them looked at one another and how each was just absolutely glowing made the day very real. You could see the love between them, and that is what this day was all about."
In December 2013, the high school baseball and basketball star was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer, and during the last few years he has undergone 24 rounds of chemotherapy, over 100 radiation treatments and two surgeries. But one month after learning his illness had spread and become terminal, he proposed to Britvich, and the pair said "I do" just one month after that.
"The one thing I noticed after the evening was over was that not once was there mention of an illness," says Cyprowski. "This day was solely about the love between two incredible individuals – a love that has conquered so many obstacles to get to this point."
Growing up alongside Luke Blanock has been a crazy ride, to say the least. So was I surprised when he told us a month ago that he was getting hitched? Not really. When we were little, Luke was my board game partner. As we got older, he was my comic relief. And recently, he's been the voice reminding me that we would all be okay. So if you would have told me two years ago that a beautiful, strong, and incredible girl would make him a more incredible man than he already was, I wouldn't have believed you. But here we are, celebrating the love that these two have found so much strength, fun, and joy in. It's not the love that anyone planned: it wasn't timely and it wasn't easy, but it's love all the same. & it might be the most beautiful love that I've ever seen. Luke & Natalie, I've learned not to be shocked by the two of you anymore (because what kind of psychos can pull off a wedding in a month?) but know that your spirits through life have never ceased to surprise me. Thank you for showing us all the kind of love that endures all things. Words will never express how grateful I am to be a part of your lives. Welcome to the family, Natalie. I love you guys! #LovecameBlaKnocking
She continues, "They deserve the world and the community really pulled together to give that to them. We had so many reach out to donate their time and services. We could not have planned this special day from start to finish in a month without the kindness and generosity from our local vendors. I cannot thank them enough for making this day truly memorable for Natalie and Luke!"
