Could 2016 finally be Leonardo DiCaprio's year to nab an Oscar? If the first trailer for The Revenant is any indication, there's definite potential.
DiCaprio stars as 1800s frontiersman Hugh Glass in the adventure drama, a real man who made a nearly 200-mile trek to civilization for vengeance after his fellow travelers left him for dead following a bear attack.
In the film's first trailer, the actor, 40, rides horseback, mercilessly takes down his opponents, travels through barren winter wilderness and faces the vicious grizzly bear – all while sporting an impressive beard.
The Revenant is helmed by Birdman's award-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu, and it stars Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter as the men who abandoned him in his time of need.
"I ain't afraid to die anymore, I've done it already," snarls DiCaprio as Glass in the clip.

The movie, inspired by the legendary tales of Glass's adventures, hits theaters on Christmas 2015 in a limited release before premiering widely on Jan. 8, 2016.
