After New York City socialite Tinsley Mortimer's surprising arrest for trespassing at her ex-boyfriend, sugar heir Nico Fanjul's home in Florida last week, new revelations about the pair's tumultuous relationship are coming out.

Police reports obtained by PEOPLE detail a shocking incident of alleged domestic violence from 2013, which resulted in Mortimer's hospitalization for a head injury. Fanjul had no comment when reached by PEOPLE, and a rep for Mortimer also had no comment.

According to one police report, Mortimer was hospitalized "due to a possible battery" on Christmas Day in 2013. The officer called to the hospital wrote she had "a laceration on the back of her head that was still bleeding with blood in her hair" and that her face, eye and arms were swollen and bruised.

At the time, Mortimer told officers that she was injured while attempting to intervene in an argument between her boyfriend and his younger brother, but refused to provide further information or his name at the time, claiming she was afraid due to "his family's status in Palm Beach."

Just six days after the 2013 arrest, Fanjul, now 30, called the police to his home, reporting Mortimer as an "unwanted guest."

Authorities said Mortimer's "speech was slurred and she appeared intoxicated." At the time, she told police she wanted to have Fanjul prosecuted "for an incident of battery/domestic violence" that occurred on Dec. 25, but then later declined to provide a statement.

According to the police report, Fanjul also appeared intoxicated and stated Mortimer was no longer welcome on the property. Mortimer was issued a written trespass warning and left the scene.

When contacted by a police officer on Jan. 1, 2014, one day after the second incident, she made it clear she "did not want to prosecute for the battery" and "made several references to how powerful the family is and did not want to start anything."

Nico Fanjul is the son of sugar baron Alexander Fanjul and is among the elite of Palm Beach, Florida.

The 2013 incident echoed Mortimer's April 9 arrest. According to a police report previously obtained by PEOPLE, Mortimer was arrested for trespassing after she had come to Fanjul's home uninvited. (A source told PEOPLE "she sat on his doorstep for hours and banged on the door.")

A source close to Mortimer told PEOPLE that the pair had been dating on and off and were together as recently as the previous week. In a statement to PEOPLE via her lawyer last week Mortimer said "it was never her intent to cause any problem" and she "hopes to resolve this misunderstanding."

Of Mortimer and Fanjul's volatile relationship, a source tells PEOPLE "they are both to blame."

"Tinsley gets jealous and Nico can be a bully," says the source. "He is aware of who he is and can push it around to a fault."

The source also says Fanjul wasn't serious about Mortimer and the relationship was "more of a hookup."

"It was a 'just for kicks' fling," the source says. "She was way more serious about him than he was about her."

A second source tells PEOPLE Fanjul "is full of himself and has his own agenda when it comes to girls."

"Tinsley got the raw end of a relationship with him," adds the source. "They are not good together. She needed to move on a long time ago."

A source previously close to the star told PEOPLE last week the incident "doesn't make any sense."

"Men were always interested in her and I never saw her be over-eager," said the source. "She's very attractive, she's got everything a guy would want. I saw so many guys circle around her and so many guys pursue her and she never was one of those girls that really wanted a guy – she was always being pursued, she was never the pursuer."

The source also said Mortimer "was very careful in who she got involved with" and "was very picky and not desperate, ever."

Mortimer was previously married to oil legacy Topper Mortimer and spent years rubbing shoulders on the New York City social circuit as an It-Girl, launching her own lipstick, Tinsley Pink, with Dior in 2008 and even starring in her own CW reality show, High Society in 2010.
