WATCH: My Giant Life's Haleigh Plans a Wedding 2 Months Away, Dad Doesn't Approve

07/28/2015 AT 09:40 AM EDT

My Giant Life's Haleigh is planning on taking one giant step – and Dad isn't happy about it.

The 6-foot-7 professional volleyball player, 23, is dating 5-foot-8 Brian, 32, who popped the question in last week's episode with a romantic sunset-painting session on the beach.

In an exclusive sneak peek at this week's episode, Haleigh takes her parents to meet with a wedding planner in the hopes that they can help convince her father to be more on board with the marriage – but dad Tay isn't afraid to speak his mind about his apprehensions.

"My dad has objections to Brian and I getting married this summer because he thinks I'm getting married too young, and he also doesn't like the fact that it's happening so soon," the TLC star says. "He wants to keep me his little girl for a little while longer, but I'm a young woman now, and a young woman who wants to get married."

Haleigh reveals to the wedding planner that she hopes to set a date for the big day in June, something Tay isn't on board with.

"With this quick marriage, I don't like it all," he says to the camera. "I never have liked it, I've been very vocal about that. The condition with Brian was: You pick the day and I get to pick the year – that got blown out of the water real fast," he says in reference to the agreement that Brian and Haleigh wouldn't get married before 2017.

"And all of a sudden it's boom – like that, we want to do it this year. I felt betrayed at that time, I did," Tay continues. "This should have been two years down the road, at best a year."

In addition to his concerns about things moving too fast between Haleigh and Brian, Tay also worries about how the couple would handle their finances.

"They don't have a substantial enough income today to support a marriage, absolutely do not. They don't understand it yet," Tay says. "I know what it takes to feed a family, I know what it costs to pay the bills. I know how hard I have to work to do this stuff. So when you tell me you got it, I don't believe you got it in a heartbeat because I don't think you know what you're getting into."

My Giant Life airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
