True Blood has always celebrated the undead, but on Sunday night it was all about celebrating the actually dead.

Spoilers ahead.

With the pack of Hep-V infected vampires disposed of, the residents of Bon Temps are finally afforded time to mourn the loss of their loved ones.

Sookie (Anna Paquin) is at first resistant to the idea of having people over to remember her deceased boyfriend Alcide (Joe Manganiello) and best friend Tara (Rutina Wesley), but Bill (Stephen Moyer) shows up with a bouquet of flowers, and the rest of the town soon follows.

Alcide's father, Jackson (Robert Patrick), and Tara's mother, Lettie Mae (Adina Porter), give moving speeches commemorating the heroic deeds of their respective children, but the party takes a lighter turn when Sheriff Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) makes an impromptu decision to propose to his girlfriend Holly (Lauren Bowles).

While the rest of the party celebrates the impending nuptials, Sookie escapes upstairs with Arlene (Carrie Preston) as she – with the help of tequila – begins to accept that Alcide is truly gone.

Back downstairs, a fight with Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) leads James (Nathan Parsons) into the arms and lips of Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis). When Jessica finds the two men together, she has her ex-boyfriend Jason (Ryan Kwanten) – who has been questioning his relationship with Violet (Karolina Wydra) – rescind James's invitation to the house. Alone upstairs, the former couple finds comfort in each other and ends up in bed together ... well, in chair together.

Now sufficiently drunk off the tequila and the positive thoughts she is hearing around the party, Sookie stumbles outside to Bill (who is remembering his time with his family before the start of the Civil War). The two share a long embrace before Sookie returns inside to find Lettie Mae stabbing Willa (Amelia Rose Blaire) in an attempt to get some more vampire's blood.

One state over, Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) have made their way to Dallas in search of Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp). The two visit Sarah's vampire sister Amber, who informs them that Sarah is likely with her parents at a Ted Cruz fundraiser. Donning outfits right out of an episode of Dallas, Eric and Pam make their way to the fundraiser, where Sarah has indeed come to seek the help of her mother and father. But before Eric can find the former pastor's wife, the mob of hit men that killed Sarah's yogi boyfriend show up. They open fire on the fundraiser attendees, killing Sarah's parents. Wanting Sarah for himself, Eric kills the hit men as she quivers behind him.

Ending his evening in a much more serene manner, Bill is back at home and taking a relaxing bath. All seems well for the immortal vampire – until he exits the tub to find he is showing the first signs of a Hep-V infection. And just like that, Bill's immortality becomes a little less permanent.
