Warning: True Blood spoilers ahead.
Hoyt Fortenberry (newly engaged Jim Parrack) and his girlfriend Brigette (Ashley Hinshaw) begin Sunday's episode of the HBO drama in a very mortal disagreement: Brigette wants kids and Hoyt isn't sure. But things get a little thornier when the subject of Hoyt's vampire ex-girlfriend Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) comes up. Brigette has picked up on the fact that Hoyt and Jessica have a history, but Hoyt claims he doesn't know the redhead.
And he isn't lying.
Just when Hoyt successfully convinces Brigette that she has no reason to be jealous, there is a knock at the door, and Jessica is standing there with the news that Hoyt had her glamour any memory of her out of his head after she cheated on him with his best friend Jason (Ryan Kwanten). Brigette asks Jessica to leave but Hoyt chases after his former girlfriend.
Brigette calls Jason to come pick her up, but upon his arrival he is swiftly knocked unconscious by Hoyt, who has been catching up on his lost history. Brigette tries to drive Jason to the hospital but the former high school football star says he is no stranger to concussions and they should just go back to his place. Jason refuses to repeat his sins and tells Brigette they won't be having sex. He stays true to his convictions and the two end up in bed fully clothed and share an intimate platonic evening together.
Meanwhile, Sookie (Anna Paquin) is having her own issues with her vampire love. The half-fairy made it her mission to find a cure for Bill's Hep-V infection, but when one is finally presented in the form of Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp), Bill (Stephen Moyer) says he wants to die. Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) tries to persuade Bill to drink Sarah's blood to heal himself, but Bill is convinced that if he dies, Sookie will be able to move on and have a happy, normal life.
Sookie has also been contemplating life without Bill. After discovering that Sam has chosen to move out of town to lead a quieter, safer life with his new family, she confides in Arlene that life may indeed be better without Bill.
Back at Fangtasia, Eric finally gives into Ginger's desire to sleep with him before he heads down to the basement to find his progeny Pam (Kristin Bauer Van Straten) held captive by Mr. Gus (Will Yun Lee) and his men. Trying to guarantee the secrecy of his plan to manufacture and sell a cure for Hep-V, Mr. Gus wants to trade Pam's life for the information of where Sookie lives.
The penultimate episode of the series ends with Bill knocking on Sookie's door – but are a mob of hit men also on their way over?
The series finale of True Blood airs Sunday (Aug. 24) on HBO.
