Much of the Internet spent Wednesday and Thursday mourning the news that Harry Shearer, who voices roughly a third of Springfield's citizens, was leaving the cast of The Simpsons
Shearer's departure raises any number of questions about what's going to happen to the characters he voiced, and indeed, the future of the show in general. And that's a shame, because we're hard-pressed to think of another show with as recognizable and familiar a style as The Simpsons
. Family Guy
comes close, but it's still far off.
Which is what's so cool about this collection of art from DeviantArt user ADN-Z
. It takes the familiar Simpsons
aesthetic and applies it to other popular TV shows, like Breaking Bad
and Game of Thrones
. (ADN-Z runs the Draw The Simpsons Tumblr
, so he's something of an expert.)
Walter, John Snow, and all the rest: Welcome to Springfield!
The Crawleys would probably find the Simpsons frightfully uncouth.
Games of Thrones
But Tyrion would probably enjoy pulling up a bar stool at Moe's beside Homer and Barney.
Primetime TV Leads
Can you imagine the bender that Tyrion, Homer and Hank Moody from Californication
would go on? To say nothing of what things would look like if Don Draper started quaffing martinis alongside the trio.
Fun Fact: Katey Sagal
, who plays Gemma Teller Morrow on Sons of Anarchy
, is the voice of Leela on Futurama
, another Matt Groening-created property.
The Voice Actors of The Simpsons Harry Shearer
and the dearly departed Phil Hartman are probably the most visible of the voices behind The Simpsons
, though Hank Azaria has popped up in the flesh from time to time, notably in Mystery Men
(the 1998 version).
