A small, single-engine passenger plane crashed and became engulfed in flames at Milwaukee's Timmerman Airport on Wednesday.

According to a report from Wisconsin's Fox 6 Now News, officials speaking on behalf of the Milwaukee County Department of Transportation said the plane had two passengers. Both died in the accident.

Calls for emergency services first came from the airport at 6:11 p.m.

A Fox 6 Now reporter spoke with Kenneth Gipp, whose home sits near the airport. Gipp described the fiery crash.

"I saw the aircraft leaning real hard to the right. It looked like the wing hit the ground first," he said. "There was just a line of flames going from where it hit up to the plane."

Neighbor Quentin Smith told WISN News that when he saw the plane crash, he initially wanted to help the people inside, but the situation quickly became too dangerous.

"It actually exploded, so I kind of stepped back, he said. "But I was yelling to see if anybody responded."

According to TMJ4 News, shortly before the crash, the pilot had radioed in that the craft needed to abort its landing and make a "go-around" before attempting to land again.

No one on the ground was hurt as a result of the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating what may have caused it.
