A statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirms Wednesday's arrests of David King, the 58-year-old chief of White's police force, and patrolman Blake Scheff, who is 26.
PEOPLE learns that King and Scheff face charges for false imprisonment, theft and violating their oaths as law officers.

The GBI's statement alleges King and Scheff would have people arrested on "fabricated charges" that were then reduced "to a citation." Fines were collected on the spot, the statement says.
At least two women were identified as victims in the officers' alleged scheme, which ran from late 2011 to last April.
King and Scheff were both released on bail Wednesday. It is unclear if either man has an attorney.
