On Aug. 16, one of cinema's best babysitting adventures, Uncle Buck, will celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The John Hughes comedy tells the story of the Russell family; mom and dad need someone to look after their three kids ASAP. Short on options, Uncle Buck – a sloppy and crass city dweller – is recruited at the last minute. Expertly played by the late John Candy, Buck tackles giant pancakes, power drills and a game of endless questions with Macaulay Culkin, proving crazy uncles have some serious skills.

A quarter of a century later, Uncle Buck still brings the laughs and warm, fuzzy feelings. The film also serves as a prime example of Candy's comedic genius. Sadly, the beloved comedian passed away from a heart attack in 1994 at the age of 43, but the rest of the cast members are still popping up in new projects.

See how the Russell family has changed, and what they are up to 25 years after their visit from Uncle Buck.

Macaulay Cuklin (Miles Russell)

After 1994's Richie Rich, Culkin took a break from acting, overwhelmed by Hollywood and family drama. He returned to the screen in 2003's Party Monster, but is currently focused on a stranger project. The youngest and nosiest Russell is now part of a pizza-themed Velvet Underground cover band called Pizza Underground.

Gaby Hoffmann (Maizy Russell )

Uncle Buck was only Hoffmann's second film, but the young actress had staying power. The 32-year-old has continued to appear in movies and on TV, most recently playing Adam Driver's older sister in the HBO show Girls. Fans of the former child star can also see her on the big screen in the upcoming movies Wild and Manhattan Romance.

Jean Louisa Kelly (Tia Russell)
