In a new commercial for Under Armour, some of the young women hoping for gold show they have what it takes to represent American sports on the world stage.
Clad completely in Under Armour gear, gymnasts like MyKayla Skinner, 19, Maggie Nichols, 18, and Madison Kocian, 18, stretch and contort into positions that seem unnatural for the average person.
Later, the athletes work on their floor routines and fly between the uneven bars, all set to M.I.A.'s "Matangi."
At one point, the young women even take their talents to a nail salon, stretching while their nails are manicured.
"It's what you do in the dark, that puts you in the light," the screen reads, as the team is shown practicing late into the night (or early in the morning).
Under Armour svp of global brand marketing Adrienne Lofton said in a statement to Adweek that the commercial is meant to showcase the "athlete's never-ending quest to reach greatness."
"By providing this peek behind the curtain of our athletes' lives, we hope to inspire young athletes all over the world to push beyond their perceived limitations in order to achieve their ultimate goals. We truly believe it's what athletes do in the dark, when no one is watching, that ultimately puts them in the spotlight they deserve," Lofton explained.

The commercial is the first in a series for the brand, according to Adweek. Next up is a spot starring soccer player Memphis Depay, the 22-year-old Manchester United winger.
