Will Ferrell & Kristen Wiig Dish on Their Hilariously Awkward Makeout Scene in Zoolander 2: 'It's So Sensual'

Ferrell and Wiig appeared on the Today show on Monday to discuss their upcoming roles in Zoolander 2, and of course, about their onscreen kiss – if you can even call it that.
"It's so sensual," said Ferrell, 48, of the moment.
"Just PG, soft," added Wiig.
But in reality, the kiss is anything but sensual or soft. In the scene, Ferrell's character fights through Wiig's elaborate neckwear to essentially scream into each other's mouths as they wave their tongues around.
And if that sounds really, really weird, it's because it is.
Ferrell revealed that the two never rehearsed the scene before filming, which only made the kiss more spontaneous and awkward-looking.
"The funny thing is that right before we started to do the scene we realized, 'Oh wait, we have to do this kiss, what should we do?' " recalled Ferrell. "Kristen just said, 'You know what, I'm okay with whatever,' and I'm like, 'Okay, vice versa, same here,' and then [Ben Stiller] said 'action' and that's what happened."
And it turns out, everyone was onboard with the unconventional makeout.
"[Stiller] yelled cut and he said 'I don't know what I'm watching, but keep going,'" said Ferrell.
While Ferrell reprises his role as the evil fashion mogul Mugato, Wiig, 42, is among a handful of celebrity cameos in the film, playing fashionista Alexanya Atoz.
Along with Wiig, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Macaulay Culkin, Usher and more make appearances in the highly anticipated sequel.
Justin Theroux, who co-wrote the script with Stiller, also stopped by the Today show on Monday where he admitted that "virtually no one" turned down the opportunity to make a cameo in the film
"As soon as we started writing, we started getting incoming calls where people mentioned it to someone and they'd say, 'Oh we'd love to participate in any way possible,' so it was really about scheduling," said Theroux. "We had so many people who are obviously very busy people, so if we could get them to Rome – which is not a hard sell – we could use them."
Zoolander 2 hits theaters Feb. 12.
