Athletes aren't the only ones playing the field at the World Cup.

According to a report from Quartz, Brazil's influx of World Cup tourists are trying to do a bit of scoring on their own – mobile dating apps like Tinder and Grindr are seeing their numbers skyrocket in the South American nation.

Whether their passion is brought about by the beautiful game or just a large number of beautiful people, World Cup fans are getting on Tinder in record numbers. A rep for the company says that the app's downloads are up 50% in Brazil since the beginning of the tournament. Grindr's numbers aren't far behind; the number of times the gay hookup app has been opened in Brazil is up 26% in a similar time span.

Other observers have wondered how the language barrier will affect all these new Tinder matches, but judging by our experiences on Tinder, it's not like they'd be missing out on any scintillating conversation.
