Love was certainly in the air July 28, when FERGIE's Las Vegas gig drew countless celeb couples to the Palms Hotel's new Pearl concert venue. MARIO LOPEZ arrived holding hands with KARINA SMIRNOFF, while NICKY HILTON brought along beau DAVID KATZENBERG. (A more-subdued-than-usual PARIS HILTON also tagged along for her first trip to Vegas since her recent stint in jail.) Also spotted snuggling at the show: DONALD FAISON with CACEE COBB and SERENA WILLIAMS with actor JACKIE LONG.

JESSICA: NO "PORN," PLEASE!

JESSICA SIMPSON wants to be a Major Movie Star—but she won't take just any role. "The last script that came to us was for Jessica to [play] a porn star," her dad, Joe, told Insider on July 26 at ABC's Television Critics Association party in L.A. "We were promised we would win an Oscar with that. I was like, 'Eh. We'll just buy a [statue of a] little man and keep our clothes on.'" These days, in fact, Jessica is decked out in head-to-toe camouflage while filming Movie Star near Shreveport, La. "I've been wading through alligator-infested swamps and walking through poison ivy," says costar Aimee Garcia. "We've all suffered injuries. It's very intense."

Will WHOOPI GOLDBERG (top) join The View? Cohost ELISABETH HASSELBECK won't say. But she did give the comic a glowing review at New York's Super Saturday event July 28. "She's one of the most thoughtful people," says Hasselbeck. "Amazing."

Better late than never: High School Musical's ASHLEY TISDALE, who turned 22 July 2, threw a beach bash in Malibu hosted by Silver Spoon for about 15 pals July 31. "This," she said, "was definitely worth the wait!"
