Despite reports that Prince Albert was about to propose to Charlene Wittstock, 28, his girlfriend of nine months, marriage now appears to rank low on the princely to-do list. In Newport, R.I., on the weekend of Aug. 11 for a jazz festival and charity event, Albert, 48, was accompanied by Heather Van Zuidam, a Naples, Fla., real estate agent; they were guests of the private club Carnegie Abbey. Though they held hands and shared a kiss, Van Zuidam, 33, told PEOPLE she met Albert at a tennis event in Monaco 15 years ago and that they are "longtime friends." So will Albert—who in June acknowledged paternity of a second child born out of wedlock—ever marry? In an Aug. 13 interview with Good Morning America, he avowed, "I have no plans in the near or distant future."

Royally Bugged?
There's nothing British tabloids like better than spilling secrets of the royals, but now it seems one scribe may have gone too far. On Aug. 9 police charged News of the World royals editor Clive Goodman (and businessman Glenn Mulcaire) with intercepting voice mails left on cell phones—which may include some from Prince William to royal staffers. Will, 24, grew suspicious last fall when details from his phone conversations about seeing a knee surgeon and meeting with British TV newsman Tom Bradby turned up in News stories. Will's aide "passed his concerns on to police," Bradby told Britain's ITV News. Indeed, sources close to Will tell PEOPLE that, in college at St. Andrews, he would plant stories with pals, then see if the information turned up in the tabs.

Harry: Ready for Combat
It's official: Prince Harry will find out in December where he'll be deployed next spring and, an inside source says, he'll likely end up in Iraq or Afghanistan. Harry, 21—serving in the Blues and Royals regiment—wants to be on the front lines, but the army needs to "think carefully" about his duties, a source says.
