Supermodel Linda Evangelista, 41, welcomed her first child—a boy, her agent tells PEOPLE. Augustin James Evangelista was born Oct. 11 in N.Y.C. She has not disclosed the name of the father.... The Amazing Race season-6 contestants Jonathan Baker, 44, and Victoria Fuller, 33, had their first child, daughter Trease Alynette Baker, Oct. 6 in Encino, Calif.... Actress Kelly Rutherford (Melrose Place), 37, and her husband, Daniel Giersch, 32, welcomed their new son, Hermés Gustaf Daniel Giersch, Oct. 17 in L.A.

MARRIED
On Oct. 14 Michael Flatley, 48, the Irish-American star of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance, wed his longtime costar, dancer Niamh O'Brien, 32. The wedding, Flatley's second, took place in Fermoy, County Cork, near his Castlehyde home in Ireland.

RECUPERATING
Former President Gerald Ford, 93, was released from the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., Oct. 16 after undergoing several days of tests. No details were released on the reason for the stay. Ford, who in August underwent an angioplasty, is now "returning home," according to his office.... Usher's Chicago run came to an abrupt end due to a bout of strep throat. The singer, 28, finished his two-month stint as Billy Flynn nine days early with the Oct. 5 performance.

LEGAL ISSUES
Hilary Duff filed for restraining orders against a 19-year-old Rus-sian immigrant identified as "Max" and his roommate David Joseph Klein, 50, on Oct. 12 in L.A. The actress, 19, claims that Max "threatened to kill himself" to get her attention. She also alleges he threatened to "remove enemies" who stood in his way, including Duff's boyfriend, musician Joel Madden, according to court papers. Both Max and Klein were unavailable for comment.... Actor Wesley Snipes, 44, was charged Oct. 17 in Tampa with conspiracy to defraud the IRS and failure to file income tax returns. The federal indictment alleges Snipes fraudulently claimed nearly $12 million in refunds for 1996 and 1997 income taxes and failed to file federal tax returns from 1999 to 2004. A warrant has been issued for Snipes's arrest. As of press time, his lawyer could not be reached for comment.

DEATHS
Singer Freddy Fender, 69, the Grammy winner who bridged country and pop and topped the charts with hits such as "Before the Next Teardrop Falls," died Oct. 14 from lung cancer at his Corpus Christi, Texas, home.

MARITAL DIS
Runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks's ex-fiancé John Mason filed a countersuit against her on Oct. 13 in Georgia, seeking an undetermined sum for the emotional and financial loss he suffered after she faked her own kidnapping. Last month Wilbanks, 33, sued Mason, 34, asking for proceeds from the sale of their story. He denies taking the money and according to court papers "carries the scars of [the] plaintiff's bizarre behavior."
