Who has had the greatest influence on your life?

My wife. She has more fun than anyone I know on this planet. She's pure passion, that girl. Without her I can get quite serious and a little introverted. She's brought out a lot of the confidence to be who I am.

You and your wife have adopted two kids [Oscar, 6, and Ava, 1]. Any advice to others thinking of adopting?

Do it. It's phenomenal, and there are so many kids in need. It's the greatest thing that's ever happened to us.
What's a typical day in your life?

I'm an early bird. On Sunday morning I cook pancakes and my son now loves to cook with me. If I can get in the water, I do—swimming, surfing, anything. Even in winter I'll dive in the ocean. Then it's pretty simple: just hanging out with the kids.
Does it freak your wife out that you're a sex symbol?

When I was first put on PEOPLE's Most Beautiful People list, she put it down in front of me. She said, 'Look at you, sexy boy. Now take the garbage out.'"
You sang at [friend] Nicole Kidman's wedding. Any plans to do a CD?
SARAH STONE, Waterloo, Ont.
That wedding was amazing, very Australian, down to earth. Without a doubt the most romantic wedding I've ever been to. Keith sang for Nicole, and there was not a dry eye in the house, including Nicole! As for the CD, I've tried. I recorded six or seven songs [with producer Richard Marx]. I found that I enjoyed singing onstage, but the moment I had headphones on, I felt very self-conscious. A bit like a phony or something.
If you weren't an actor, what job would you choose?

A journalist. I was interested in radio; I wanted to go off and travel and file stories. That or Matt Lauer's job on the Today show.
What lesson do you most hope to instill in your kids?

To be strong enough to follow the things you're passionate about, even if they're not cool or sexy or going to make you a lot of money. It's truly the one way to ensure a happy and fulfilled life.
