Along with her Best New Artist Grammy, Underwood left the party with a little something else: new beau Oliver Trevena. A British pop singer, he escorted her to Clive Davis's pre-Grammy bash and never left Underwood's side at Sony BMG's Grammy afterparty. The two shared sushi while holding hands at their table. How serious is the romance? So far, Underwood is keeping mum.
WIN DIXIE!
Back in '03 the Dixie Chicks (above, Martie Maguire, Natalie Maines and Emily Robison) were dropped by many country radio stations after Maines slammed President Bush just before the Iraq war. Some felt further antagonized by their hit 2006 single "Not Ready to Make Nice." But Grammy voters couldn't get enough of the Texas trio, showering them with five trophies, including awards for album, record and song of the year. It was all too much for the band's flinty lead singer. "I totally lost it backstage – I felt like it was my first cry in the last three years," said Maines, whose husband – and Heroes star – Adrian Pasdar (right) cheered her on. How did they plan to celebrate? Said Maines: "Champagne!" Nice.
WHO'S THAT GIRL?
Sitting in the Staples Center on her 19th birthday, Robyn Troup got the best gift ever: The "My Grammy Moment" finalist (and a reject on this season's American Idol) was picked by Internet voters to duet onstage with Justin Timberlake. How did the Houston native stay calm while singing "Ain't No Sunshine" and "My Love"? Said Troup: "I zoned in on Mary J. Blige [sitting in the audience]."
JUSTIN RUN-INS
At his Feb. 9 pre-Grammy concert at L.A.'s Avalon nightclub, Justin Timberlake shared a cheerful man hug with none other than Kevin Federline–ex of his long-ago ex Britney Spears. He then rocked the house for celeb fans, among them pal Scarlett Johansson, who is launching her own music career with an album of Tom Waits covers. Johansson presented at the Grammys and hit afterparties hosted by Warner Music Group and the William Morris Agency–with no Justin in sight. "Scarlett is not interested in a serious relationship," a friend says of romance rumors. "She's just having fun."
PARTY PEOPLE!
Beyoncé may have felt under the weather ("There's some crazy stomach bug going around!" she said) but she never let it show as cohost of PEOPLE's Grammy blowout at L.A. hot spot Eleven. Arriving with Destiny's Child pals Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, the singer schmoozed with Mary J. Blige, Kerry Washington and John Legend and cheered on Rowland as she blew out the candles on a 26th-birthday cake. Also enjoying the party vibe: Mischa Barton and Christina Aguilera who traded gossip at a booth, and Terrence Howard, who couldn't wait to show off his dance moves.
MARY J. BLIGE'S OTHER BIG NIGHT
On Feb. 9 Will and Jada Pinkett Smith entertained 30 close pals with a five-course dinner at L.A.'s Boulevard3 for Mary J. Blige. "We have so much love for her," said Pinkett Smith, who hosted solo (Smith beamed in his good wishes via satellite). Guests included Tom Cruise and Oprah Winfrey, who put feud rumors to rest by dining alongside Katie Holmes and Winfrey's beau Stedman Graham. Later the party was opened up to 400 revelers, who danced the night away in honor of the R&B Queen. Said Blige: "This is just a blessed time."
JOHN AND JESSICA GET COZY
Hard to tell what made John Mayer happier: nabbing the Best Pop Vocal Album Award or joining Jessica Simpson in a cabana at Sony BMG's fete at the Beverly Hills Hotel. All night Mayer showered her with kisses, and when the pair left after midnight, he held Simpson close after she complained of being cold. Their relationship, though, seems to be heating up.
