Actress Bryce Dallas Howard (The Village) gave birth to a baby boy in L.A. He's the first child for Howard, 25, the daughter of director Ron Howard, and her husband, actor Seth Gabel, 25.... Actress A.J. Langer (My So-Called Life), 32, and her lawyer husband, Charles Courtenay, 31, welcomed their first child, daughter Joscelyn Skye Courtenay, in L.A. on Jan. 31.... Skating with Celebrities winners Kristy Swanson, 37, and Lloyd Eisler, 43, have a son, born Feb. 16 in L.A. Magnus Hart Swanson Eisler is Swanson's first child and Eisler's third. "We are absolutely ecstatic about the arrival of our first child," Swanson said.
Actress Elizabeth Hurley and her boyfriend, Indian businessman Arun Nayar, posted their marriage banns in Gloucestershire, England. According to the document, Hurley, 41, will wed Nayar, 42, on March 3.... On Valentine's Day, radio host Howard Stern announced his engagement to girlfriend Beth Ostrosky, 34. Stern, 53, proposed Feb. 13 with a 5.2-carat diamond ring.
Comedian Al Franken formally threw his hat into the ring, saying he'll run for U.S. Senate in Minnesota in 2008. Franken, 55, a former Saturday Night Live star, recently left his job at Air America Radio.
Dr. Robert Adler (inset), the physicist who helped invent the television remote control, died Feb. 15 in Boise, Idaho, of heart failure. He was 93. Adler and fellow engineer Eugene Polley received an Emmy award in 1997 for the device. After earning his Ph.D. from the University of Vienna, he joined Zenith in 1941, where he worked on projects such as touch screens, oscillators and lasers during his nearly 60 years with the company.
Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro's split became official on Feb. 20 in L.A. After three years of marriage, Electra, 34, filed for divorce from Navarro, 39, last August, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, whose wedding was chronicled on MTV, have no children.... Rapper Foxy Brown was charged with battery and resisting arrest on Feb. 15 after allegedly squirting hair glue at a Pembroke Pines, Fla., beauty supply store owner. Brown, 28, spent the night in jail and was released on $1,500 bond.... Goodfellas star Ray Liotta was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he hit two parked cars while driving his Cadillac Escalade in L.A. on Feb. 17 (no one was injured). Liotta, 52, was released on $15,000 bail. His rep had no comment.... On Feb. 20 Nicole Richie pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor DUI stemming from her arrest last December in Burbank, Calif. Richie, 25, was arrested after 911 callers reported that she was driving the wrong way on a freeway. Police said she then admitted to having smoked marijuana and taken the painkiller Vicodin. Richie, 25, who has a prior conviction for DUI, faces mandatory jail time of at least 90 days and up to one year if convicted on this second offense.
STYLIST: FOXX OWES ME MONEY
A stylist claims that Jamie Foxx owes her wages and expenses. Stacy Young filed suit against the actor Feb. 14 in L.A. superior court, saying Foxx, 39, and his record company verbally agreed to pay her $3,000 per day to dress him for press junkets to promote Miami Vice, and $2,850 per day to dress him for the 2006 BET Awards. Young says she was not fully paid for her work nor reimbursed for costs such as messenger fees. She is seeking unspecified damages. Foxx's publicist had no comment.
