"In my last film," notes a deadpan Macaulay Culkin, "I was alone a lot." Yeah, Home Alone. But what Hollywood's hottest tot means is that he shot most of his scenes alone—"usually setting up traps" to snare the bumbling bad guys. "In this one [My Girl]," he says happily, "I have a partner." She is fellow 10-year-old Anna Chlumsky, a stage veteran (Annie in Chicago) but a screen rookie. "She's fun to work with because she's a kid," Mac reports. "And kids relate to kids better than they relate to adults." Good thing, because Anna, in fact, is the star. (She plays an undertaker's daughter in the fall comedy-drama; Mac is her best pal.) The kids broke the ice biking and catching bugs. "Anna's nice," says Mac. The chemistry is mutually zowie. Raves Anna: "He's a good listener—for a boy."
