Comedian Rosie O'Donnell, 33, recently became a single mother. She adopted a 7-lb. son, Parker Jaren, born on May 25.
Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, 87, the longest-reigning Chief Justice of this century—17 years—died on June 25 in Washington of congestive heart failure. Burger, who was appointed by President Nixon in 1969, helped establish the first legal definition of obscenity; he voted to legalize abortion and to force Nixon to hand over his Watergate tapes.
Former White House press-secretary-turned-talk-show-host Dee Dee Myers, 33, was arrested for driving under the influence in Washington on June 27. Myers, who was first spotted by police double-parked on the wrong side of the street, could face a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $300 fine.
Singer Sting, 43, and his wife, film producer Trudie Styler, 39, are expecting their fourth child in December. The couple already have Mickey, 10, Jake, 9, and Coco, 4. Sting also has two teenage children from a previous marriage.

On June 26 a Manhattan family court judge reversed his earlier ruling and held that Macaulay Culkin's mom, Patricia Brentrup, 41, must temporarily share custody of the 14-year-old star and five of his siblings with their father, Christopher "Kit" Culkin, 51. Brentrup was previously awarded temporary sole custody after charging that Culkin had threatened to hinder their kids' acting careers. The judge changed his position after hearing Culkin's side of the story. A Sept. 14 hearing will decide who gets long-term custody....
A U.S. District Court judge in Detroit dismissed charges on June 21 that former University of Michigan student Jake Baker, 21, had transmitted a threat to kidnap or injure when he posted a fictional story on the Internet about the rape and slaying of a fellow student. Baker's fantasy, said the judge, was not illegal but "only a rather savage and tasteless piece of fiction."
