Want to get cast in a movie? It helps if Dad and Mom are in the business. Little Francesca Ruth Eastwood, now 2, made her movie debut this past Friday (Sept. 15) in The Stars Fell on Henrietta, a Depression-era drama coproduced by her father, Clint. She plays, appropriately enough, the baby daughter of a farm wife portrayed by her real-life mother, Frances Fisher. (Offscreen, Eastwood and Fisher are no longer keeping company.)...
It's one thing for Whoopi Goldberg's husband, union organizer Lyle Trachtenberg, to have hung on to his rented apartment in Santa Monica following the couple's marriage last October. After all, the fickleness of Hollywood romance almost demands that new spouses keep their old digs, just in case. And while Trachtenberg has been spotted spending a lot of time alone in his old apartment lately, Goldberg's rep says there is no problem in their marriage, advising us that "Whoopi has been on location in North Carolina since August shooting the Disney movie Eddie." Adds the rep: "Lyle goes to the apartment to water his plants."...
After last year's Emmys, I reported that Picket Fences' Ray Walston had rehearsed his acceptance speech in the men's room at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, only to lose for best supporting actor in a drama to his costar Fyvush Finkel. Well, Walston, 80, won this year but says he did it without rehearsing in the bathroom, or anywhere. "After last year," he says, "no way did I want to make the same mistake again."...
The first-ever record on the Steven Spielberg-Jeffrey Katzenberg-David Geffen-owned SKG label will be a George Michael single titled "Jesus to a Child." Due in December, it is Michael's first record in more than two years....

Some employees of Moscow's Metropol Hotel were all atwitter when word got out recently that Olivia Newton-John would be arriving with Michael Jackson and Madonna. Newton-John was in Russia to film segments for Wildlife, the environmental show she fronts in Australia. It turns out, however, that Newton-John's companions were Michael Jackson, her cameraman, and Madonna Melrose, her makeup artist....
And finally, take it from me: Contrary to a tabloid report, Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett are not getting back together. Although the two remain on friendly terms, their divorce is proceeding.
