Getting Her Gold
Trouble—and Tonya—Behind Her, Skater Nancy Kerrigan Weds Her Agent
For Kerrigan and Solomon, whose romance bloomed after her pre-Olympic mugging last year, the ceremony marked the end of Kerrigan's long healing process. "This day I will marry my friend," read the inscription on programs at the service, which was attended by 250 guests, including Olympic skaters Paul Wylie and Lilly Lee. (The ring bearer was Solomon's 6-year-old son, Clay, from his second marriage, which ended last year.) Kerrigan, whose gown was created by designer Jef Billings, did her own hair and makeup at home in Stoneham, Mass. "I couldn't wait to get to the church," she says. "I was ready to get married." After the reception at the Cambridge Hyatt, the bride and groom set off for a honeymoon at an undisclosed location. For their next husband-and-wife venture, Kerrigan will star in a Solomon-produced Halloween on Ice show in Boston early next month. If she keeps to form—"She was very serene and very beautiful," a wedding guest said—the show should be a smash.
CHYNNA PHILLIPS AND WILLIAM BALDWIN SEAL THEIR BLISS
WHEN TWO STAR-STUDDED FAMILIES are joined in matrimony, even the guests come to ogle. "I told Chynna that the real reason I came was to meet her husband," jokes designer Vera Wang, among the 300 who attended the nuptials of actor William Baldwin, 32, and singer Chynna Phillips, 27, at the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary R.C. Church in Southampton, N.Y., on Sept. 9. "All the gorgeous Baldwin brothers were there," says Wang of the groom and his actor sibs, Stephen, Daniel and Alec (with his very pregnant wife, Kim Basinger). "That was enough for me."
Somehow, Wang found time to make last-minute adjustments in the size-4 organza gown she had designed for Phillips. Chynna's divorced parents, Mamas and Papas founders John and Michelle Phillips, escorted her down the aisle, and her half sister, actress Mackenzie Phillips, was a bridesmaid. Also on hand were Chynna's Wilson Phillips band mates, Wendy and Carnie Wilson, who had witnessed the couple's first meeting, aboard an airplane in 1991. "She walked past him, and we could see Billy sticking his head into the aisle to watch her," says Carnie. "I said, 'Honey, this is it!' "
Reception guests in nearby Water Mill received CDs of the couple's favorite love songs, including Chynna's "I Live for You," which she wrote for Baldwin and contributed to Central Park West's premiere. "It was," says Wang, "a very romantic day."
