In the forthcoming CBS miniseries Every Knee Shall Bow, Randy Quaid will play white separatist Randy Weaver, and Laura Dern will play his wife, Vicki, who was shot and killed, along with their 14-year-old son, Samuel, by federal agents during the 1992 siege at the couple's Idaho home. The miniseries is based on the 1995 book of the same name by Jess Walter, who is now collaborating with Christopher Darden on his upcoming autobiography....
Onetime TV talk show host Bertice Berry, 35, claims in her new autobiography, due later this month from Scribner, that she is the illegitimate daughter of the late Otis Redding. In Bertice: The World According to Me, Berry writes that her mother, Beatrice, broke the news to her in 1991, telling her she was the result of a one-night stand with Redding after a 1960 concert in Chester, Pa. Berry says her unmarried mother never told Redding, a married man, about the pregnancy and never tried to contact him after Bertice was born. Redding died in the aftermath of a plane crash in 1967, when Bertice was 7 years old. When we called the singer's widow, Zelma Redding, she said, "Otis Redding had three children [Dexter, 35, Karla, 33, Otis III, 31], and he had them all with me."...
A different sort of Simpson saga: For the next-to-last episode of the season (May 12), The Simpsons are planning a takeoff on rock's Lollapalooza concert tour. Called Homer-palooza, it will feature the sounds of rockers Peter Frampton and Smashing Pumpkins and rappers Cypress Hill. The show's season finale will feature the voice of 15-year-old actress Christina Ricci (Casper); she plays a friend that little Lisa Simpson meets during a beach vacation. The title of the episode is The Summer of 4 Ft. 2.
