TED & MARY SHOP FOR A SHOW

Pumped from costarring in the highly rated NBC miniseries Gulliver's Travels, husband-and-wife Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are looking to work together on a regular basis. They have already talked to a number of top writer-producers in Hollywood about developing a half-hour sitcom for them—including Christopher Lloyd, coexecutive producer of Frasier, and Jeffrey Lane, former executive producer of Mad About You. Danson's rep says the couple have yet to settle on any one particular idea....

Guess what? Roseanne is engaged in a battle of wills. This time it's with Fox-TV. Roseanne is executive producer of a forthcoming, late-night, hour-long Saturday variety show, which will temporarily replace the network's so-so rated Mad TV, and Fox execs want to title the show The Eleventh Hour. Roseanne prefers Saturday Night Special, which Fox thinks sounds too much like the competition, Saturday Night Live. Nicole Brown Simpson's friend Faye Resnick tells me that after receiving three death threats on the phone, she now has two armed guards with her constantly. She says she's overcome with fear "every time the beast leaves his cage." It is an obvious reference to O.J. Simpson, who said recently, "I have no doubt in my mind that the answer to these murders are [sic] in the world of Faye Resnick." Last week, in a deposition in the civil suit filed against O.J. by the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole, Resnick testified that Simpson used drugs and beat Nicole repeatedly.
