Boyz (and girl) on the Hood: Murder One's Jason Gedrick, NYPD Blue's Sharon Lawrence and Melrose Place's Grant Show jawed anticipatory victory cigars while training at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, Calif., for the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race on April 13 in downtown Long Beach. The stars will drive Celica GT Liftbacks in the 10-lap race, a charity fund-raiser for children's hospitals.
Jeff Daniels doggedly pursued a canine costar while filming a scene for 101 Dalmatians in London. The comedy, based on the Disney animated classic, is due in November. Glenn Close will do her scary best as Cruella De Vil.
ER's George Clooney, every inch the cool operator on-and offscreen, made an unscheduled hoops call with crew members in L.A. while making One Fine Day, a romantic comedy costarring Michelle Pfeiffer, due this fall.
Denzel Washington knows a Devil in a Blue Dress and a devil in boxing trunks, too. That's what he and other fans saw in Las Vegas as Mike Tyson regained his WBC heavyweight crown by TKO-ing Frank Bruno in three.
Michael J. Fox escorted his missus, Tracy Pollan, to an ACLU bash in L.A. honoring Rob Reiner, who directed Fox in The American President. Fox returns to TV this fall in an ABC series, playing a deputy mayor of New York City.
Native New Yorker Jerry Seinfeld found something fishy in lower Manhattan while filming a new American Express commercial. Standing by as her standup guy did his huckster best was Shoshanna Lonstein (far right), who brought along her homemaker mom, Betty. Seinfeld recently announced that he will bring his Top 5 sitcom, NBC's Seinfeld, back for an eighth season next fall.
Tool time: Jimmy Carter isn't the only big name who can hammer a house together in no time flat. Paul Newman, who a year ago played a down-on-his-luck handyman in Nobody's Fool, showed plenty of proficiency with power tools when he joined Habitat for Humanity volunteers in building single-family homes for the poor in Bridgeport, Conn. Newman lives in nearby Westport.
Life partner Goldie Hawn was tied up making The First Wives Club in New York City, so Kurt Russell flew solo in L.A., taking their brood to the premiere of his new action thriller Executive Decision. From right: Kurt and Goldie's son Wyatt Russell, 9; Kate Hudson, 16 (Goldie's daughter with entertainer Bill Hudson); Boston Russell, 16 (Kurt's son with actress Season Hubley), and a family pal.
Elvis he ain't, but clad in leather and backed by the Broadway cast of Grease!, New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani hogged the spotlight at the Inner Circle, an annual one-night show spoofing Big Apple politicos.
Newlyweds Mayte Garcia, a dancer, and her hubby, the artist formerly known as Prince and currently known as a symbol of strange, cooed courtside as the New York Knicks humbled the high-flying Chicago Bulls in Manhattan. Prince can be heard singing both old and new songs on the soundtrack of Girl 6, a new flick by Knicks fan Spike Lee.
