Courtney Love, 30, widow of grunge rock star Kurt Cobain and lead singer of the group Hole, pleaded guilty on Jan. 23 in a Melbourne court to committing offensive behavior on an aircraft. Love had been arrested on Jan. 21 for swearing at a flight attendant who told her not to prop her feet up on the bulkhead during a Qantas flight from Brisbane to Melbourne. The singer, who had recently begun an Australian tour with her band, was ordered to post a $500 bond against any other run-ins during her stay.
Revlon tycoon Ron Perelman, 52, and Democratic political activist Patricia Duff, 40, were wed in a civil ceremony several weeks after the Dec. 13 birth of their daughter Caleigh Sophia.
Bachelor billionaire David Koch, 54, executive vice president of Koch Industries, his family's oil and gas company, has reportedly purchased the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's palatial apartment on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan for $9.5 million. Onassis, who bought the 15-room duplex in 1964 for $200,000, maintained a residence there until her death on May 19.
Fashion designer Vera Maxwell, 93, who helped pioneer sportswear for American women, died of a stroke on Jan. 15 in Puerto Rico. Known for her reasonably priced classic outfits, Maxwell counted Grace Kelly, Pat Nixon and Rosalynn Carter among her customers.
Ken Stronach, 50, personal vale to Prince Charles for 16 years, resigned his position on Jan. 23 after apologizing to Charles for taking photographs of the prince's bedroom at High-grove and handing them over to a reporter from the London tabloid News of the World.
Camilla Parker Bowles, 47, longtime love interest of Prince Charles, and her husband, retired army brigadier Andrew, 55, officially ended their 21-year marriage on Jan. 19 in a London courtroom. The couple, who have been separated for nearly three years, have two children, Tom, 20, and Laura, 16.
Talk show host Montel Williams, 38, and his wife, Grace, 30, a make-up artist, welcomed daughter Wynter-Grace Dolores (6 lbs.) on Jan. 21 at a Manhattan hospital. The couple already have 16-month-old Montel II. Williams has two daughters from an earlier marriage.
Wheel of Fortune letter-turner Vanna White, 37, and her husband, restaurateur George Santopietro, 48, are expecting a second child this summer. Son Nicholas was born June 10.
Ex-Beatle George Harrison, 51, charging mismanagement, filed a $25 million suit against Denis O'Brien (age unavailable), his business manager of 20 years, on Jan. 20 in L.A. Superior Court. Harrison claims O'Brien misused an as yet unspecified sum of the musician's earnings so that he could buy "yachts and villas in various parts of the world" while Harrison "suffered enormous losses."
