Gilbert, married for five years to writer-actor Bo Brinkman, filed for divorce earlier this month after a year's official separation. Gilbert and Brinkman plan to share custody of their son, Dakota, 4.

Mr. Muscles from Brussels, Jean-Claude Van Damme, caught a few winks while dancing 'til dawn with his girlfriend, actress Darcy LaPier, at Club USA in Manhattan. He was in town to kick off his new film, Hard Target.

Saturday Night Live's Adam Sandler (at left) and Chris Farley—no need to dress up, guys—caught the L.A. screening of Searching for Bobby Fischer. The duo were in town filming Airheads, a comedy due next year.

Saving soles: During his visit to Denver, Pope John Paul II slipped into sneakers for a minihike through nearby Camp St. Malo. The Pontiff's posse purchased his tennies at a local Athlete's Foot store, requesting gold laces instead of white ones, "per His Holiness' wishes."

Lauren Hutton, who turns 50 this November, worked a squeeze play on Rugby, a Norwich terrier who's among her costars (as is Gérard Depardieu), while filming a new romantic comedy, My Father the Hero, in Manhattan.
