Can one scene make a star? Sure thing. Her sensual 7-minute tango with Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman
sent Gabrielle Anwar, 24, into orbit, where her mile-long eyebrows and acre-wide lips (inherited from her Indian father and English mother) have casting directors gazing her way. She flustered Michael J. Fox in '93s For Love or Money
and is now filming Halcyon Days
, a murder mystery. "There's an Audrey Hepburn grace of spirit in her that is captivating," says Scent director Martin Brest. Still, says the British actress, there's room for growth. She joshes that she'd get on a medieval torture rack if it would stretch her 5'2" frame a foot or so. A strict vegetarian, she has a single beauty tip: "Don't listen to beauty tips. Women give their least favorite tip so they'll stay the most beautiful." And she worries she's not a perfect mother to 6-month-old daughter Willow (by a man she won't name). "But," says Anwar, "I remind myself that Willow isn't the perfect baby either."
