HOLLYWOOD HASN'T ENJOYED A POLITICAL campaign this much since Mr. Smith went to Washington. The recently anointed bêtes of the "family values" people—"I always aspired to he in the cultural elite," quipped guest of honor Bill Clinton—once again roasted the opposition, this lime at a Sept. 16 Democratic Party fund-raiser hosted by film producer Ted (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle) field. About 1,200 guests—including Whoopi Goldberg, Tammy Wynette and Dustin Hoffman—gathered at Field's Beverly Hills estate to schmooze with Bill and Hillary and applaud partisan zingers delivered by Warren Beatty, Michelle Pfeiffer and Danny DeVito.
But the evening's highlight was a slightly doctored version of "It Had to Be You," sung to Clinton in a rare performance by Barbra Streisand: "George Bush and Dan Quayle/They golf and they sail/ One doesn't look well, the other can't spell/ Those fellas won't do...It has to be you."
