After eight days of deliberation, a While Plains, N.Y., jury found former schoolteacher Carolyn Warmus, 28, guilty of second degree murder in the Jan. 15, 1989, killing of Betty Jeanne Solomon, the wife of Warmus's lover, Paul Solomon. Warmus's first trial in the much publicized "fatal attraction" case ended in a hung jury last year. New evidence introduced in the second trial included a black glove—discovered by Paul Solomon after the first trial—containing traces of blood. Credit-card records showed Warmus had bought identical gloves prior to the murder. She now faces 15 years to life in prison....

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer, 21, who zipped to fame in her seductive Guess jeans ads and is now RevIon's newest face, has filed a $10 million lawsuit against R.O.M.E. magazine and photographer David Hurley for printing unauthorized topless pictures of her taken backstage at a fashion show. The suit charges that the photos would damage her "reputation, career and professional image."

Photographer George Hurrell, 87, who helped define Hollywood glamor with his alluring portraits of Golden Age movie stars, died of cancer May 17 in Van Nuys, Calif. Starting in 1928, Hurrell shot all the big names, from Clark Gable and Joan Crawford to Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer....

Former pro basketball team owner Danny Biasone, 83, who in 1954 persuaded the National Basketball Association to speed up games adopting the 24-second-shot clock, died May 25 of an infection in Syracuse. (He had been suffering from liver cancer.) Biasone owned the Syracuse Nationals (now the Philadelphia 76ers) from 1946 to 1963.

Screen siren Lana Turner, 72, who most recently played Jacqueline Perrault on TV's Falcon Crest (1982-83), has announced that she has undergone successful treatment for throat cancer. Her doctors discovered the disease during exploratory surgery on May 13.
