On June 24 prosecutors in Monmouth County, N.J., charged Melissa Drexler, 18, whose new-born child was found dead in a trash bag at her senior prom (PEOPLE, 6/23/97), with murder and endangering a child. A report by the medical examiner's office determined that the infant had been alive at birth and was killed by asphyxiation.
